Frequently asked questions

What is a good CRS score?

There is no fixed pass mark. Historically, general Express Entry draws have often required roughly 470-550 points, while category-based draws (healthcare, trades, education, French) and Provincial Nominee draws can go lower or higher. Check the latest draw results on canada.ca.

Does a job offer still give CRS points?

No. Since 25 March 2025 IRCC no longer awards CRS points for arranged employment. A job offer can still help with FSW eligibility (67-point grid) and provincial nominations.

How can I increase my CRS score fast?

The biggest levers are a provincial nomination (+600), reaching CLB 9 in all four abilities (more core and transferability points), French at NCLC 7 (+25 to +50), Canadian work experience and a sibling in Canada (+15).

What is the maximum CRS score?

1,200 points: up to 500 (single) or 460 + 40 spouse for core factors, up to 100 for skill transferability and up to 600 additional points.

Is the CRS score different with a spouse?

Yes. If your spouse or partner accompanies you, your core points are slightly lower but your partner can contribute up to 40 points for education, language and Canadian experience.
